Q: Hallo,  I own a ~VIN,MacBook (13-inch)

Hallo,  I own a ~VIN,MacBook (13-inch) Serial number: 4H******U9E  , Intel Core Duo , 2 GHz, running Mac OS X 10.5.8 ; my question is : with this computer I cannot update to OS X Lion and therefore I cannot use iCloud, right?  Since I have a mac.com email address, my address will expire if I don't buy a new computer that is able to run Lion 10.7.2 , right ?  Any other option ?  Thanks for answering !

Correct.  You need Core2Duo (which is not CoreDuo) to run Lion.

Buy a new or Apple-refubished system with Core2Duo or an i-series CPU.

Also, it is inadvisable to publish unit serial numbers, personal email addresses, home address, etc in this forum.  These forums are searchable by the great big world, and people can steal your serial number to register things and prevent you from registering.

it's really not a good idea to post personal information about you or your products online. (Serial Number or product, real name, phone number, extra)

    useful links:

You can use dropbox, as a replacement for iDIsk.

MobileMe accounts will automaticaly expire by a set date. The base level of iCloud service is free.

Lots of old email programs, including  older vertions of Apple Mail can be used to check & send email though iCloud. The diffrence is you have to actually setup mail to use the iCloud email.

CoreDuo and Core2Duo are CPU types.  I have an i7, with other types being i5 and i3.

This a link to the Apple Refurbished store: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac

Apple takes units returned by customers for either defects or "did not want".  Apple will fully verify the systems after any required repairs, and "certify" them.  These units then have Apple's 1 year warranty and most can have AppleCare added.

You can get a unit from late 2011 for 30% off the original price, or a 2010 model with an i3 (not the latest tech, but beter than a CoreDuo) for many hundreds off a new unit.
