Tracking your serial number on an IPOD touch

Does anyone know of a way to locate your serial number for an ipod touch? Mine was stolen from my hotel room and I am nowhere near my original box or receipt. Know of any other way to track it?

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.

- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.

- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police

- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

- Apple will do nothing

I was unaware of iCloud At the time. On another related matter, I registered both serial numbers last nite - my ipad and my stolen iPod touch. I have a friend who works in a pawn shop and wanted her to check the records. Now that I log into my apple support account, it is not showing any of the products I registered. When I attempted to register my ipad again, it prompted me that it was already registered. I checked for multiple accounts but that was unsuccessful.
