Java patch not in software update

This Java patch does not appear when I click on software update. It isn't on my list of recent updates either. Could the virus block the patch? My email account was attacked on Wednesday so I assume my laptop is infected.

It is more likely that you don't even have Java installed.

Go to: http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

If you don't see anything that looks like this:

User uploaded file

then you don't have Java and you are fine.

In what way? Usually people just mistake forged return addresses for some kind of malware infection. A forged return address is just standard SPAM behaviour. It is fairly common for people to use easy-to-guess password on web-based e-mail systems like gmail and get their e-mail account hacked. That has nothing to do with your laptop.

My email account contacted everyone in my address book. All of the emails contained a single link but from what I've heard, the links are all different. I know 5 other people who have had this same issue in the last few months but all are on PCs and I've assumed they picked up a virus somewhere. My email password isn't a word or my address or birthday or anything that's easy-to-guess. Any thoughts?
