Q: Locked folder

Are these folders only on an external device, or where exactly?

I'm not familiar with the Pencil in the corner thing, but if you do a Get Info on that folder on the Mac, can you unlock the Lock & check or change the Permissions there?

Hmmm, what Size does Get Info report for the folder? And did it report you had Read Privileges?

OK do a Get Info on Chanatown folder, what Rights & privileges does it show?

Expand that bottom triangle on Sharing & permissions.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

What are the rightson XXS & Movies folder?

The following is not a fix for your problem but may provide some useful info...

Launch Terminal (in Utilities).  Type ls -la followed by a space.  Then drag Futurama to the terminal window.  You should have a line that looks something like,

ls -laed /path/to/Futurama

Hit return and post the result.

Great info, can you explain what tis does to a n00bie?

Sort of like the finder Get Info but may show a little more than the get info, particulalry in your case since that Get Info you show doesn't show the group and permissions info.

If you really want to see the documentation for the ls command, in terminal type man ls and hit return, then hit return at the end of each page until it reaches the end of the information.

Thanks, I've never understood any of the man *** lists, just goobedly gock without a real example of each!
