iTunes can't find song names online / HTTP Client Error

When I insert a CD iTunes hangs for several minutes then returns an error message "Song names cannot be found online, do you still wish to import?". I tried in my wife's Mac using iTunes and it worked fine (so I know the song names DO exist online). I've also tried turning off the filewall and uninstalling any apps on my PC that might be interfering, and reinstalling iTunes (twice). As well as putting gracenote into the safe sites list on IE Explorer. Also, after I select "no", another error message "HTTP Client Error" comes up.

Frustratingly, it was working fine a few weeks back, I've no idea what has caused it. Screen shots below:User uploaded file

Confirmed solution from killergaming.com works for iTunes 10.7.0.21 running on Windows 7:

"Depending on the version of Windows (I'm running 7), you can click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and choose Run As Administrator.

Type 'netsh winsock reset' press enter, and then reboot."

I didn't get the "The LSP was not mapped correctly. Would you like to re-map the LSP?" message. Tried this and iTunes is working fine now.

I have a solution that works on PC and I would assume Mac as well. It is simple and effective. For unknown reasons my proxy setting seem to default to LAN settings that make it seem like I have no internet connection when I do. First, verify you are indeed online. Go to your browser settings. Click on setting then scroll down to advance settings. Go to Network and click on Change Proxy Settings. A box will come up and toward the bottom you'll see LAN Settings. Click on that and un-check all boxes. Mainly the "Use Proxy Server" box. Un-check it hit OK then OK Go back to itunes refresh and that error should be gone and Gracenote database will connect. I hope this works for you. Depending on your Browser (I use Chrome) it may differ slightly but just make sure the Proxy setting are disabled.
