iphone 4s keep auto shut down

i got an 4s for my mom on early january. the phone was ok until end of march, the phone keep auto shutting down and have to get hard reset to on (sometimes hard reset not working, and have to plug to pc sync with itunes to restore).

after got this auto off problem, i called the carier company, they asked me to update ios 5.1, but problem still.

i read some threads here and online, and understand that if got panic.plist have to get replacement.

however, after i restore (N times), sometimes panic.plist not show up (but the phone still will auto off).

just because i'm signing plan with malaysia's mobile carier, i couldn't get replacement on the spot, and some asked me to wait till they call, some even told me to leave the phone to them about month to get replacement.

please advise what to do, or any solution for avoiding to get 4s auto off.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). If all of these steps have been tried and the issue still exists, then it's time to contact Apple or whomever provides support in your country for replacement.

After restore still having auto shut down trouble.

Called to apple, advised to get replacement too.

Went to celcom (mobile carrier I signed contract with), the guy is good, told me can bring back the phone when they got stock.

Finally got my new 4s yesterday. But another guy served me, the guy so strange that keep blabbing me that it's new 4s & old one will be destroy (chemical melted). I see no point of that to lie to us while he just passed me the phone (no box, no charger, no manual) since I already been told that everyone (at least apple discussion here) already knew we will only get refurbish when problem phone replaced.

Currently the phone still ok. But I think since got once experience, if got problem with the phone, I surely will straight bring service card & ask for new replacement again.

P.S.

I finally found out the phone auto switch off is due to battery problem.

Coz when I on the phone with charging, there's no auto off, just only when I took out the charger, phone will off again.
