Why doesn't my iPhone support Adobe Flash Player?

I miss out on a lot of things including as simple as a store coupon.

Largely because Apple wouldn't allow flash Adobe has dropped the mobile version.

Please provide citations to back this up. It is patently false. More Android devices are sold thant iPhones around the world. Adobe has completely killed all development of mobile flash for all platforms. The logic does not follow that they killed mobile flash for all platforms because Apple wouldn't allow it. Apple did not ban it, they simply decided that mobile Safari would not permit any plugins. It's a security issue as well as a performance issue.

That's not true at all! Adobe is happy to make flash for Apple devices, it's just that Apple refuses to let Adobe do so. The required hardware is already there. Steve Jobs always said that he wouldn't put flash on the iPhone (and not the iPad either) because it would make it sluggish, slow it down, and possibly make big holes in the iPhone's security (not that it's any good in the first place anyway). What he said is actually quite true and there are facts to back it up. Flash has it's security issues, and a lot of them, Adobe is horrible with security, with Adobe Reader too. It would make the iPhone or iPad quite slow because Flash is a memory hog, and it takes up roughly anywhere from .25GB to 1.5GB, depending on how demanding the program/execution is, and how many you are running at once. Considering that the iPhone only has 512MB of RAM (or .5GB), that would make a problem. Steve didn't want to make more RAM for the iPhone to accomodate Flash, mainly due to it's security holes, leading to Apple's distrust of Adobe.

can any one imagine Flash on, say the iphone 2g or 3g? it would have slowed the phone to a stand still! not untill duel core processors and the like did flash operate even remotely normal on a phone. If you find the need to there are 3rd party browsers such as the Photon browser that provides compatibity with Flash content, I have that browser on my iphone 4 just incase but, never find the need to use it
