I have no Retina display on iPad2, so why upgrade apps for it?

Does Retina display compatibility hugely increase the size of apps? I read someone's Macworld comment that suggested the size increase was massive. Is this true? I have iPad2 and don't intend to upgrade hardware until iPad #4 comes out. I wonder how much the Retina display capability is going to eat into my storage if I upgrade my apps? I have 64gb of storage, but I also have a large number of apps.

Based on my experience updating the apps because of the new retina display really doesn't have that much to the storage on the iPad. However at some point other features may be added along with the retina display upgrade and you may not be able to use the app unless you updated anyway.

However this is a choice that only you can make if you don't want to update then don't update it. Just keep that in mind for the future, if the app will not work without updating it, you will be stuck.
