how do i clear cache in lion

How do I clear cache in Lion? With Snow leopard I deleted three cache folders. Lion says it cannot delete them because they are needed to run Lion

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

don't do it. It will make your mac slower. If you insist:

Clear cache in Lion

  1. Open a finder window and select “Go to Folder” in the Go menu
  2. Type in ~/Library/Caches
  3. This is optional, but you can highlight & copy everything to a different folder in case anything goes wrong.
  4. Highlight everything and press CMD and Backspace
  5. Restart your machine

Another way is to restart the computer in Safe mode, then boot again normally. This removes all cache files for the user account you started up to in Safe mode, and resets Font Book's database. Note that the only cache files affected are the ones for the Safe mode account you booted to, not any system cache files.

A Safe mode startup does a few more things than that, but this is what it does in regard to cache files.
