Why is Airplay icon missing in iTunes and iPad2?

I had been using Airplay on my Macbook and iPad2 with no problem, until I upgraded the OS. Now the Airplay icon is missing in iTunes and iPad2.

I'm running the current version of Lion on my Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo, and iOS 5.1 on iPad2. Software Update says all my software is current on both devices.
