this may be a dumb question but i have downloaded xcode4.3 and i am trying to find the .xib files or .nib files and i want to open the interface builder but i cannot figure out how to open it

There is no separate Interface Builder application in Xcode 4. On the left side of Xcode 4's project window is the project navigator, which shows all the files in your project. Select a xib file from the project navigator to open it in Xcode.
