iPhone 3GS wont connect to WiFI

Hi All,

I know this one has been done a fari bit but none seem to quite have the same propblem as me, at least i dont think so,

I have had to "borrow" a 3GS from a firend who upgraded to a 4 after my 3GS met an untimley demise 😟

My friend restored the phone "as a new iPhone " in itunes prior to giving ti to me but now it wont connect to my home network.

It sees existing networks, but wont connct to mine.

I have tried changing the security settings, from WEP to WPS, turning security off, changing the SSID, reseting the networks settings on the phone, powercycling my router. Everything else connects fine, iPAd, iPod, other 4 laptops, just not this **** iPhone!!!!

Any suggestions I havent tried????

thanks in advance.......

adithya,

thanks for the reply. However, my home network has been using WEP for 4 years and my old iPhone 3GS worked just fine on it, as well as my iPad and IPod, so I cant see how changing to WPA now would solve my problem??? besides, i tried changing to both NO security and WPA2, and it still "Unable to connect to *mynetworkname*"

What exactly do you mena by "add the net work manually"

If have tried turning my SSID on and off, tried choosing "other" and typing my SSID and security and password, tried it with NO security......this is extremely frustrating..because in the past stuff has just worked, and now this stupid iPhone jsut doesnt want to connect, and i have a very small data plan as data plans are crazy expensive here in Aus. NOw it is saying it cant find my network. I dont know anyone who has a wireless network that is near by to try and log in to theirs, but it sees 4 wireless networks in my street, i just cant connect to mine...arrrgggggggg

Thanks to this forum I FINALLY fixed it!!! I was having the exact some problem. Every wireless device in the house (my MacbookPro, the Tivo, The Wii, The Roku, my Wife's phone) saw my wifi BUY my iPhone and my iPhone could see other wifi networks that were no my own. Then I got it, the other networks are not protected, i.e. no security settings in the way.

So I changed the Secutity Setting on my wireless router. I changed it from WEP to WPA and I was back in business. Thanks adithya.
