Are authorized resellers allowed to mark-up the price of the new iPad?

Just went to the Broadway in Times Square to see if they had the new 3rd generation iPad available for sale and they did (16, 32 and 64GB). When asked what the price was they slyly took out a list from the back of a pillar that looked similar to the price list at other authorized resellers, but the pricing was marked up by about 10%. e.g. a 64GB on the apple site goes for $5888, Broadway was asking $63** for it, $500 mark-up.

Is this allowed?? If I want to be ripped off, I'll go to the shady guys in Wan Chai or **** Kok, did not think authorized resellers were allowed to rip you off as well.

By the way, the Fortresses that I visited are not marking up.

$6000 dollars is more than a $500 dollar mark up.

I you don't like it, don't buy from them.

Since the price of the iPad is relatively fixed....in other words authorized resellers have a range of prices they can use and, depending on the contract, aren't even allowed to put the device on sale without permission from Apple, anyone with a price that varies too much is a place I wouldn't shop.

Anyone sellling the device for over the listed amount (unless that price is for a bundle....for example the iPad + bundle of accessories (case, stylus, screen protector etc) for let's just say a 16 gig + bundle for $599) isn't a place to do business with. Anyone selling a device really, really dirt cheap likely isn't resellling a device with the best of histories.
