Q: Why does my mac sound as if PRAM is being reset when I restart?

Hi Folks,

when I retart my Mac it chimes several times as if the PRAM is being reset.

Could this be telling me my internal battery is dead?

I've just been snooping around the web and thought I'd ask here. TO confirm my suspiscions.
