It vaguely rings a bell but I can't remember what the solution was (or whether it was actually the same problem). If you save a picture from, for example, Safari, does that appear ok in the Photos app ?

Have you tried a reset to see to see if that fixes it ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

All photos, or just these photos. If these were at some point converted from a PDF, there are a couple of PDF encoders,( from what it have seen, they are packaged within a 'photo' program that came with a handheld camera) that use a different or non standard method of encoding the photos. They work fine with some decodes, but display inverse on the pad.

The only way I have gotten these straightened out is to open on a pc, copy and paste them into a new picture using paint or some similar program, then send them to the pad.

I know that this is an old thread, but for those still Googling for the answer I have a solution.

The problem is that your images were saved in CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black) color mode or similar, probably in Photoshop during editing. This is why some higher end photos may show up on your iPad as "negative", while other photos that you took may appear perfecctly OK.

The resolution is to use a photo editor (there are loads of free ones), open the photo, save it in RGB (Red Green Blue) color mode and then it will open correctly on your iPad.
