Q: My time machine backed up yesterday but now my Macbook Air says in airport utility it cannot find any wireless device. I have tried shutting down and restarting and have switched off and on time machine.  Any suggestions please

My time machine backed up yesterday but now airport utility in my Macbook air cannot find any wireless device. Any ideas on how I get them together again please?

    This is Lion I presume.. losing its marbles.

     

    If a power cycle of the TC doesn't get it going.. give it the full treatment.

     

    Press and hold reset for about 10sec.. (I would say plug in by ethernet.. but you don't have one on MBA)

    Plug into another computer by ethernet to do setup for preference but if you must try if wireless now works.

     

    You will need to redo the setup..

     

    Use short names.. no spaces no special characters ie pure alphanumeric.. eg

     

    TC name.. TC

    Wireless name.. TC24ghz (no dot, no space)

    Set different name for 5ghz.. TC5ghz

    Set wireless to manual.. a/n - b/g

    Set wireless channels.. 1, 6, 11 for 2.4ghz try them in turn.. but this is hard to do by wireless.

     

    Update the TC.
