Try downloading the file again. It's possible the file was corrupted on download and is missing data which cannot be replaced with a repair tool.
Have you tried The Unarchiver? It might be able to work around any issues that may be presenting problems with OSX's tool.
I use the app YemuZip to zip/unzip files.
Cheers, Tom 😉
i created the zip it is not downloaded.i zipped the file then deleted the original.big mistake i think.
i have searched and all i can find to repair zipp files is for windows.
i have tried archive utilitty.stuffit expander.and of course winzip.all fail.
just tried the unarchiver and got message "error on decrunching"
any more sugestions?
Ross, was this Zip created on the Mac or a PC?
How big is it?
Is it on a FAT32 drive maybe?
it was created on the same mac i try to unzip on.
it is around 3 G.
it is on the mac not a drive.
Ouch, I don't like huge archive files like that. You can take 3000, 1 MB files and turn them into a 3 GB archive file. If there's one error it can make all 3000 files inaccessible. Keep them as 3000 files and one small part goes wrong and you only lose one file.
Any backups of the drive before doing all this?
You might be able to use a file recovery tool to try to get files off the drive but it will be messy and costly (need the tool and need an empty drive the size of the one you're using).
I don't know if tar would be a multi file packager with better recovery in case of corruption.
ok tried tar it just created a folder with nothing inside.seemed to do nothing as it stoped after 1 second.
just to say the 3 Gb zip file is just one file.
its a movie taken on i movie.
so back to my origanal question is there a zip repair program for mac or are they all
for windows?
any other sugestions?

iMovie projects do not like being zipped. Unless you have the unzipped original you will have to create the project again.

Furthermore there's probably no point in trying to zip it. Many media formats such as mp3, AAC, mp4, jpeg are already compressed and compressing again just adds overhead (making them bigger) as well as placing them in a format that is hard to recover anything from should something go wrong.
unfortunatley creating the project again is not an option.😟
have i really lost it forever?
is there nothing but sadness ahead of me?
if there are no zip repair programs for OS X could it be possible to take the file to a
windows pc and try one of the many zip repair programs i see on google for windows?
It wouldn't hurt but I am not optimistic about it helping.
I must concur with Limnos that recovery of any data from a corrupt zip file is very remote at best.
Allan
Look at some of the links in this Google search
One has a using Terminal method.
Cheers, Tom 😉
Maybe you can try uFlysoft Data Recovery for Mac, it can recover ZIP files on Mac only in three steps:
Step 1. Launch the software to scan the device where your files deleted
Step 2: Preview the scan result files and make mark if it is the one you find
Step 3: Recover files
Do you seriously think he is still interested after four years?
Besides that why are you recommending a product which is rated as untrust worthy to download from anyway?
