Yes, but as far as I know, only when the device is connected to your Mac.
The serial number is on the packaging material that contained your iPod when it was new. If you don't have that, check the receipt or other paperwork that the retailer used to sell you your iPod.
If you don't have the receipt either, contact the retailer with your iD and approximate purchase date. Many retailers keep detailed records that may include the info you need.

If this is an Ipod you bought off ebay, ect, & you don't have the case then well, sorry!

if it was with in the last 30 days list will show ur ipod sn number with out ur ipod
Open iTunes without connecting your iPod touch. Hold the "Ctrl" key and click "Help" and "About iTunes" if you are using a Windows system, or click "iTunes" and "About iTunes" if you are on a Mac. If your iPod touch was the last device connected to iTunes, its serial number will scroll on the screen.
