Burning on a CD mixes ordering

Hi all.

I gave my old iMac G5 to my father as a gift so he could work on a good computer. He is heavily using iPhoto. The last version running on a PowerPC is iPhoto 08 Version 7.1.5. That is what he got.

Strange things are happening there. He ist reordering photos, making adjustements and so on. With the burning dialogue from within iPhoto he burns an album. Strangely he gets a CD with pictures that has all the ordering and adjustments he made if he uses it via iPhoto. On his DVD-Player or on another computer the ordering is mixed. I found out why: iPhoto is dividing that in two events. That results in another structure of directorys. Therefore, on an external player it shows the pictures from one events and plays after that the pictures from the other. I checked the status in the events, too. There is correctly only one. I am out of solutions right now.

Does anyone know if there is a way to force iPhoto to consolidate those two events into one without manipulating the timestamp?

Thanks for your support in advance,

Alex

If he is using the Share -> Burn command then he is making a disk that is designed for use in iPhoto only - for instance as a back up or to share with other iPhoto users. His DVD player simply doesn't understand the iPhoto database.

To make a disk for that usage:

Make an Album of the Photos, sort to whatever you prefer

Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'

Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"

Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

Burn that with the Finder
