I have a few SD cards, but when i plug it into my macbook pro 15 in the card is read only. I am unable to write (i.e. move, delete..) frm the SD card. I've tried the lock at both positions both doesnt work. Also, the cards are fine when read on windows. Any solutions??

They are probably formatted for Windows using the NTFS file system. Macs can read NTFS disks and SD cards but not write to them. You will need to format them for Mac - use Disk Utility and select 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'. However, this will erase any data on the cards and will make them unreadable by Windows. If you need them readable and writable on both Windows and Macs then format them using the FAT32 file system. Do this on the Windows machine, rather than on the Mac, but be aware that this will also erase any existing data on the cards. So, whichever formatting you choose, backup the files on the cards first!

Right click on the desktop icon for an SD card once it's inserted and mounted, and select 'Get info' from the pop-up menu. At the bottom of the get info window you can check the permissions for the card. Make sure your account has both read and right permissions.
Hi, thanks for your reply. I've just tried both formats and both were still only read only permission. What's worse was that the cards were read and write when i used my sis' macbook air. Is there a setting that I need to change? They were working fine when i first got my MBP about 1 year ago.
