Does the Java Security Update remove Flashback from an infected MacBook? It is not clear in the information I have seen.

It would be safer to check if you really have that malware, there is a long talk about this.

The Java update simply prevents you from getting it in the future. It cannot do anything for you if you're already infected.
Beware of using canned scripts or instructions containing Terminal commands to diagnose an infection. They have proven unreliable thus far. Nothing has really proven 100% reliable, but you'll get a better result if you use AV software to scan for an infection.
