Unable to update through Software Update

When I try to update my mac i get the following error:

"A network error has occurred. Check your Internet connection, and then try again."

This has been happening for over a week now. Looking at the Console I get the error:

"4/10/12 8:03:54.398 AM Software Update: Error: The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -3001.) (NSURLErrorDomain code -3001)"

I've verified and repiared disk permissions a couple of times and restarted the system with no success. Anyone has any advice?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

I was able to fix this by closing iTunes, App Store, and Software Update. I renamed /var/folders to something else. Restarted the computer and the update worked again. I think this folder is used for temporary downloads and it probably had bad permissions. You need to use Terminal to do the renaming.

Just got off the phone with them. Tech stated it was a server side issue. (He actually didn't know what was going on and was reading me the scripted answer for now.) He did confirm this started last evening and it only effects Mountain Lion. I was told to wait. There's currently no fix for it and that it will be fixed on the server side, not on our Macs. Not the answer I wanted to hear and I'm sure no one else wanted to hear that either. Sorry I couldn't help more guys and gals. :-(

Ouch! This looks like something in 10.8.1 installations modified / damaged the software update configuration with a wrong destination URL. Hence software update cannot be used to fix the bug... - Everyone will need to download and apply the fix through a special updated procedure once a fix is officially provided...

I changed the name of /var/folders then reboot. But my iMac still have same error show up - The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.) .

This seems be caused by today's moutain lion update.

Error details:

Apple menu, Software Update

App Store launches: Checking for new software...

The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.)

Anyone help??
