In Excel, arrow keys move active cell out of view

I'm running a multi-sheet workbook in Excel 2004 for Mac. I've encountered an odd problem and scouring the web hasn't thrown up a solution, so any help would be gratefully received.

On ONE of the worksheets (but NOT the others) when the active cell is at the edge of the screen, using the arrow keys to move the cell further causes the actvie cell to disappear from view, making navigation impossible without using the mouse and the scrollbars. I've never seen this happen in years of using Excel on the PC - the active cell was always kept in view by the screen scrolling automatically as the active cell is moved using the arrow keys, EXCEPT where Window > Freeze Panes is selected, which is not the case here.

The issue seems to be the same whether I use the built in keyboard or my Apple wireless aluminium one.

Can anyone help with this odd and anooying problem?
