Why can't I send a text message from my message browser to an iPhone?
How do I send a text from my ipad2 to an IPhone? I type the message and it will not send.
iPad 2, iOS 5.1

both devices must be running iOS 5.0+ and have iMessage turned on in settings...
Yes, both have message turned on & both are ios5+
does the iPhone have the Apple ID you're trying to message entered?
There are two lines in the message. The first line is a title and is optional. The second line is for the message. Did you type the message on the second line? This really confused me for a while when I first got my iPad.
Don't know. I can send text messages from my iPhone 4s with no problem. Just am not able to send text messages to other iPhone 4s users on my iPad2. Messaging is on and it is up to date with i0s5.1. I can put in the "address"and create a message, but the send does not light up or allow it to send when I tap it
I went to the bar next to the send button to place the message.
iMessage must be turned on on their devices...
This is only a problem from my ipad2 to iPhones. My ipad2 will not send. The send button will not light up and nothing happens when you press it!
Can you send a message from an iPhone to the iPad?
Have you tried a hard reset (holding the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time until the screen goes black and the apple logo appears)? If so, and if you're still having issues, have you tried to restore through iTunes as a backup? If so, and if you're still having problems, have you tried restoring through iTunes as a new device?
Ok, I found that I can send from my ipad2 to other iPhone users just not to my daughters cell #. When I put her cell address in the address bar it comes up with a warning insignia and says the number is not registered! She has a new iPhone 4s with ios5+. I can send a message to her apple email from messages.....just not her iPhone!
Have her go to settings on her I phone, and turn messages on. It should be that simple.

Can your daughter send your iPad an iMessage?
Yes and I can reply to her on my iPad. Just can't initiate a text on my iPad but can on my iphone
Assuming she has I message turned on. Ask her to look in settings, at the 'receive at' address she specified. She may have used her phone number, or she may have used an e mail address.
