Maximum RAM for MBP Pro?

I was browsing crucial.com thinking of upgrading my HDD to a 512Gb SSD... and I came across an option to look at RAM upgrades. I have 8GB (1333 Mhz DDR3) installed on my MBP and I thought I had the maximum amount of RAM installed. Apparently you can upgrade to 16GB with two sticks of 8GB RAM from Crucial - the kit costs around £160. Does anyone know if this is possible and if it is supported by Apple?

Yes, you can use 16GB"s of RAM. When your model first came out, I don't believe there were any 8GB sticks available, and since Apple does not go back & retest, hence the 8GB limit still noted by Apple.
