first thing I tried after I bought the reader recommended for the Mac book Pro and it cant read it. how do i configure the card? I previously read the card on all my kids PC's.

Have you tried to read more than just the one card in your [possibly defective] Sonnos card reader? Does your MBP not have a built-in SD card reader? Who recomended the Sonnos reader to you?
best buy and apple store both suggested this reader and no i have not tried another card although i can read the card on a pc
i get a prompt of disk you inserted not readable by this computer
initialize ingnore or eject are the options
Then try some other cards. If the reader can't read any of them, it's defective.
