Previous Shutdown Cause: -128

Everyday my mac instantly shuts down once or twice a day, no warning signals, just instant blank screen. I have performed the standard and extended hardware tests, which reported no found problems, and I have reset the PRAM with cmd + opt + p + r. However, the problem remains.

What could be the cause of this and how to solve it?

At the time of these shutdowns does your iMac feel hot, particularly near the top vents?

Are the intake (bottom) and exhaust vents (top) clear?

Add a temperature monitoring utility like iStat Menus, iStat Pro, Temperature Monitor, Hardware Monitor, etc.
