Work until empty? or charge whenever? What is best on a daily basis?

I have read about the number of cycles a mac has until the battery itself may be finished. My question is, when should you charge/plug in the mac? Is it better to let the mac run on battery power until almost empty then charge or even if its 65% charge it

I keep my MBP connected to AC as much as possible and let it discharge to about the 30% level about once per month. This is the status of my 'new' MBP:

My 2006 MBP has 32 cycles and is at 91% capacity. This MBP has a removable battery which is rated for up to 300 cycles. The battery in that unit is about 3.5 to 4 years old.

If I were in an academic environment where I were dependent heavily on battery power, the results would no doubt be significantly different. If you take into account the link that Templeton Peck provided and the afore mentioned strategy that I use, you should see good battery life.
