Will disabling Java affect my use of Safari?

It depends upon what kind of websites you visit. It is possible you will not notice any difference at all. In any case, it is harmless to give it a try. charlie

    If you run into a Web site that requires Java then it will give you a missing plugin indicator in some browsers (Firefox), or will give you no indication at all (Safari).
