autofsd: /usr/sbin/automount terminated with signal Abort trap: 6

This is 100% recreatable. All I have to do is type:

sudo automount -vc

or plug in a USB drive.

Thaks for the help, and the hints, but "reinstall the OS" ??

It's a huge time hit to reinstall the OS. That sounds like a microsoft solution, not something you'd do for a unixy type OS.

Surely there must be a way to find out what's happening.

With file & line number info, surely one can look somewhere and see what's failing.

Why would this info be present if not to assist in locating the specific problem?


Or have the Apple Gods in their infinite wisdom declined access to such useful information?

Beautiful, thanks for the source info.

Looks like the automount arg processing is weak. An option arg append length check was failing.

Forgoing the automounter was the simplest option.

Sticking all the mounts in a script to be run as needed solved the problem:


NFS_OPTS=soft,intr,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,timeo=900,retrans=3,proto=tcp,resvport

sudo mount -o $NFS_OPTS server:/path /local/path

....

as needed.
