My email will not stay deleted, nothing goes to trash and while I see the messages disappear as I delete them, if I quit inbox and come back, they're back! Ive tried going offline and deleting; doesnt work. I recently upgraded to Lion trying to avoid this very issue: email problems. I have an IMac.

If you are talking about Apple Mail, ctrl+click trash icon on the left side of the main window.
A context menu pops up, select Erase delete items.
In mail, highlight the mailbox on the left side of the screen, then on the menu bar choose mailbox then rebuild.
Thanks, I think its icloud, as opposed to mobileme, I have menus for both versions, and erasing ( which I've tried over and over) is pointless because nothing is going into the trash. I am able to delete and watch it go but it just comes back. It's so frustrating!
Thanks, I've tried that, and while everything does disappear it always comes back to haunt me!
Why can't anyone help us solve this problem? The application, Mail, is flawed. When I delete my emails, they come right back. This is taking up valuable gigs on my computer. HELP
