Q: Rejected Password (Mail)

I've been getting this error for months.  Every single day.  Almost everytime I open Mail.

 

The iCloud IMAP server “p01-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “xxxxxxxxx”

 

It is driving me crazy.  There is no problem with my password.  Inputting the password just leads to more errors, cancelling through the errors seems to work, but clearly this a problem.

 

I've tried deleting the iCloud email account, reinstating it, changing my password at the iforgot site, just about everything I can think of or have read here.

 

WHAT is the fix?  Seriously.

iMac 2.4GHz, Mac OS X (10.6.3)
