I would go to Settings > Store > Apple ID > View Apple ID and verify your payment info.
Thanks, but this is happening with free apps.
But do you have a credit card on file? Verify it anyway-- it doesn't matter whether or not the current app you are downloading is free-- what matters is the current billing info you have on file.
It's still needed. Make sure the security code for your creidt card is correct.
I'll take a look. But to clarify, the pop up is wanting me to unput multiple security questions and answers. I've been using my iPhore a month and have tried out many apps but this is the first I've seen this pop up.
Coming from a Windows background, pop ups like this are red flags.
Log into your account from a computer and verify your billing info.
I just verified my billing info on my phone and from a computer. Everything is accurate. Still getting the pop up.
Has anyone else seen this pop up?
I'm having the same problem it just happened to me today, but I don't have a credit card so I don't know what to do.
Are you using a debit card that is out of funds or a credit card that is over limit? An authorization will be run, even for free apps. No charge will actually process, but if your card can't be authorized, it will fail.
What EXACTLY does the message you're seeing say?
Debit card. Definitely not out of funds.
The message says:
Security Info Required
To help ensure the security of your Apple ID, you must confrim your password and answer your security questions.
Try downloading an app using iTunes on your computer and respond to the prompt there if you get it.
Ok, I get the prompt through iTunes on my computer. But why would I suddenly get this today and why hasn't anybody else gotten it?
I already had a security question on file. Why would I suddenly need three questions?
Because the security system is constantly being enhanced.
Thanks. That makes sense but I was just worried because I couldn't find any mention of someone seeing the same thing, other than someone who saw it as a problem and in that thread it didn't appear to be resolved. As far as I can tell it is resolved on my end.
Thanks everyone for your help on this!
I had the same issue on my iPhone 4 today and also was worried that it might be a virus or phishing exercise. It is certainly worded like one.
But from all the other replies in this thread, it seems like people are saying it is a valid request from Apple, is that right?
