Could you please rephrase you question? I am having a bit of trouble understanding it.
If you are talking about when you send an email to yourself and want it to show up in your inbox, there could be a majority of things that could be delaying it. First try going into the mail app on your iPad or iPhone. When you do this it refreshes your emails. If that doesn't work then just give you email service about 15 minutes. It may show up after that amount of time.
The folks you spoke with at Optimim cable are clueless.
This has nothing whatsoever to do with Apple products.
If I may ask the following question: what do Optimim cables have to do with email?
Cablevision named "Optimum On Line" is my connection.
I am not talking abut a delay of emails, emails sent to myself NEVER show up on my apple products PERIOD.
I was concerned that only new emails I send myself do not show up but both new and read emails do not show up.
Does Optimum Online support IMAP account access?
If not, messages sent with the account with the email client on your computer will not be in the account's Sent mailbox with any other email client used to access the account and vice-versa.
Neither has anything to do with Apple products.
I can ask Optimum when I have an hour, but I'm told they are "clueless". I am not a techie, do not know what IMAP is but when I send myself, or copy myself an email from desktop PC I get the email promptly on the PC which suggests to me that the issue is Apple not ISP.
I just did a test;
email sent from iPhone, to myself, shows up on iPhone inbox and PC but not iPad.
email sent from iPad, to myself, shows up at PC only, not on iPad or iPhone
Anyone who makes such a statement is a clueless.
This has nothing whatsoever to do with Apple products.
You "Allan" are outrageous and should be eliminated from any forum.
Completely unhelpful.
Try a Reset of your iPad. [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!
Thanks alan,I rest a few days ago but for the sake of testing;
I reset and then sent a test email to myself, recieved test email on PC in under a minute.
One hour later neither the iPhone or IPad has received the test email. (I was near the router)
I have received emails from other parties on both the iPhone and iPad within this hour but no test email arrived on the Apples.
thanks for the reminder but thats not the solution
Soumds like you may need to set up your server settings as an IMAP account if your provider supports that. To my understanding, iPad does not support pop mail. I could be mistaken as I am a newbie as well but I set my account up as an IMAP account and can send myself email documents with no problems. I just sent myself a PDF from my PC a couple of hours ago with no problems.
Search for IMAP settings on your providers's help and support page.
The iPad supports POP, IMAP, and Exchange account access.
Go through this troubleshooting article from Apple.

You may need to delete the email account an add it back to the iPad.
I have all three types on email accounts that Alan mentioned in the post above and all three work flawlessly. My guess is that you missed something in setting up the account.
Have you seen these settings on the website? Does this apply to your email account?
I have no issue receiving or sending most emails so the apple support link does not help.
Only emails I send myself from the PC do not show up on iPhone or iPad, all other emails are fine.
I can email myself from from iPad and Phone, emails show up on both PC and the Apples
I double checked settings from Optimum, link given above. The settings are correct on both devices.
Should I even bother asking about IMAP since we are told POP is supported?
Guess I'll try deleting the email account and starting over.
