GarageBand won't open after installing

Ive just recently bought Garageband from the Mac App store, after downloading it comes up with a box saying 'Thank you for purchasing and downloading Garageband '11 from the mac app store. You are moments away from making music on your mac' this takes another 2 hours to download. After it says its complete the garageband box closes down and does nothing, and when i click back on the icon in applications it starts repeating the whole process it's just done. Has anyone experienced this or know how to make this work? Thanks.

I am having this same problem. I purchased a new macbook pro 2 days ago, and have been trying every day to open garageband. However, each time it restarts the 4 hour download process and never actually opens the program. Very Frustrated! Please Help!!

p.s I did try the plist thing and it still did not work.

If you have Mountain Lion the the resolution is :

Firts you need to show preferences folder on library folder beacuse on Mountain Lion is hide

Launch Terminal from Spotlight or Launchpad -> Utilities, and enter the following command to show or

hide the directory:

chflags nohidden ~/Library/

then

Select Go -> Go to Folder...

Type: ~/Library/Preferences

Locate the com.apple.garageband.plist file

Move it to your desktop.

Relaunch GarageBand.

Tachan!!!
