im trying to upgrade my osx4.11 to snow leopard.Ive increased the memory and it has an intel processor .it gets so far then stops what to do?

Im trying to move from mobile me to i cloud before mobile me closes. I went to the apple store in regent St London and they werent much help, told me to do a clean rein stall: local mac engineer told me to upgrade memory to 2gbx2 whcih i have done , now i think i need to upgrade my tiger 4.11 so have a shop copy of snow leopard cd. i starts to install then gives up, i suppose what i need to do is upgrade first o leopard, but i can t find out how to do it and dont really want to spend anymore money jut to keep my mac mail a/c etc> help anyone? im computer illiterate

macbook, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

You do not need to install Leopard to install Snow Leopard over Tiger. I don't know what the shop copy of Snow Leopard CD is (upgrade or gray-faced disk or ?), however, your own copy of Snow Leopard would be £26. my disc is witw with a snow leopard cpu drop in DVD: do I need to purchase another one. I think this came with a mac book?

Where did the dropin DVD come from?

If it wan't your Mac then yes you need to purchase a new DVD.

Drop-ins were designed to upgrade a specific model.

You need the retail OS X Snow Leopard DVD.

Just to clarify, your subject says you are trying to get to SL from Tiger, which shouldn't be any real problem, but you do mention that you are wanting to use iCloud, which is specific to Lion. Is your MacBook a Core Duo or a Core 2 Duo model? If it is a Core Duo model, then you will not be able to run Lion on it.
