iCloud Email ALIASES: Only for emails? How can I use it for iMessage, Facetime, and GameCenter?

These questions keep getting ignored or skipped over with no reliable information. I don't like giving my main iCloud email address to people. I've created an ALIAS account through the iCloud.com service and would like to use it for:

Facetime

iMessage

GameCenter

There have been reports of people being able to use the iCloud aliases. I would like to hear from those who have successfully been able to create new iCloud accounts with aliases and used them for any of the services above. I do not want to hear from those who have migrated from OLD mac/me accounts. The answers I have seen do not seem to work. I would like to find a yes or no answer that it's possible.

If the only thing the aliases are good for are just an alternate email account, then please just say that's all it's good for.

Hi, the best I can see is that aliases are only for email addresses. You have one main iCloud email address which is used to sign into iCloud. You can create three aliases per iCloud primary email. But you cannot use these aliases to sign into iCloud.

So aliases are only good for an alternate email account.

Now that said, Facetime can use any email account.

GameCenter can use any email account.

iTunes Store can use any email account.

iMessage, I'm not sure. Depends on the device.

Remember that the way Apple cloud services work is this. iCloud is iCloud. You can then make email aliases. These email aliases can be used for the above different cloud services. Or you can use any email address.

In other words, Apple does not restrict you to using only your iCloud email or iCloud email aliases. Facetime, GameCenter, iTunes Store, iCloud can all be different email addresses.

So think of it as app-based accounts rather than device-based accounts.

Good luck 🙂

@NotANoob I see you've been exploring this in other threads, it sounds like your alias may not have gone through properly, so you need to delete old aliases and set up a new one, if you haven't yet. In any case I see other posters are helping you out, so I'll leave it at this. Worst case scenario is set up a new iCloud account and forward mail from the old iCloud account.
