Hi there,
Does anyone knows of any spreadsheet app in apps store that is able to link to Dropbox? As in opening up a spreadsheet that is saved in Dropbox for editing and saving the spreadsheet back to Dropbox after editing.
Please advise.

While not a absolute fit, you can move Numbers files fairly easily - but, it requires an additional step:
Creating Numbers files in OSX can be saved in Dropbox via the Finder or Numbers and opened in Numbers(iOS) on your iPad, etc by using the Dropbox "Open In..." menu and selecting Numbers (assuming you have Numbers and Dropbox on your iPad)
Going the other way - from iOS to OSX via Dropbox requires you to use the Share > Email option and then email the spreadsheet to yourself on your iPad - once your email is received on your iPad you Tap and Hold on the Numbers File icon attachment - that will present you with another "Open In..." Menu and Dropbox will be an option (assuming you have Dropbox on your iPad).

I understood your advice, however the nature of my work requires a few of my colleagues to be able to access the same spreadsheet and update real time, the additional step of emailing to oneself before it can be saved back into Dropbox is not desirable. Our work is pretty dynamic and the tendency of forgetting to open the email and save the spreadsheet back to Dropbox is pretty high. End of the day we may end up with a few different versions of the same file not knowing which one contains the latest set of data.

Unfortunately, Numbers for OSX has not yet been optimized for iCloud and Numbers for iOS does not yet have the built-in tools to allow direct access to other systems that would allow the real-time collaboration you need. One other option is to take a screenshot and crop down to the info you need. This only helps if your data fills just one screen, though.
It doesn't use dropbox, but cloudon would work. You could set up an account & then give everyone the password. Everyone could then access it. There's an app for it in the app store, but it's an online excel sheet, you don't ever store the sheets on your ipad. One downside is that you have to be connected to the internet to use it, but it does work well.

I've recently been doing this in Google Drive - which is free (all that is required is a Google account).
Then, you can save an excel file onto Google Drive onto your computer and open in Google Sheets.
Once you've done this, then you can go into it through the Drive app on the iPad/ iPhone and edit everything (including formulas).
It's absolutely great, i've been using it to keep track of stocks, etc.
You can also use it offline.
