Ipad, Connector kit & Sony

Hi all,

I have been reading mixed reports as to whether the iPad and or connection kit supports Sony cameras or not.

I am thinking of buying the iPad but have a Sony camera and want to be sure I can use it for my photos

What is the official compatability?

Many thanks

The camera connection kit can be used to import photos/videos from a digital camera or the camera's SD card. There have been a few posts where the user reported that when connecting the camera, they got a message that it required too much USB power. If your camera does not have an SD card, there are 3rd party kits that allow use of other cards, like CF.

What model Sony do you have?

Your W350 can take common SD memory along with the Canon's own Memory Stick PRO. So you'll need an SD card. The camera connection may also work, but it's easier to use the memory card.

There is another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.

Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).

Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.
