I have a few hundred 10 megapixel JPG images that take up 4.7 gigs on disk.

When I move them all to the iPad 3 they take up only 2.6 gigs on the iPad.

If i move the same images to the iPad 1 they take up only 1.1 gigs on the iPad.

It looks like the iPad 3 is doing some sort of image compression on the images thus reducing quality.

While it is doing much less of this then the iPad 1 it is still doing quite a bit of it.

Anyone have any way to avoid this or have any comments about it?
