I have a 450 MHz PM G3 B&W with 288 MB RAM and 20 GB WD HD. One day, it suddenly would NOT boot. I got a white screen with a looping error message that says, "DEFAULT CATCH!, error=300 at %SRR0: ff###### %SRR1: 0000b030" (the "#" kept changing). What the heck is this? I searched the web and found other articles but they seemed a little old and didn't solve my problem directly. PLEASE HELP ME! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! (It won't boot from CD/DVD or hard drive at all!)
Power Mac G3 Blue & White ("Yosemite") 450 MHz,
Mac OS X (10.4.5),
20 GB WD IDE HD, 288 MB SDRAM, Rage 128 GPU (16 MB VRAM)
try typing in mac-boot and hit enter. if this doesnt work, then try resetting the PRAM (command
option+PR before you press the power button, hold it until you hear a second "bong"), if this doesnt work, boot into open firmware (control
command+OF before you push the power button and until you get the screen that says something like PowerMac open firmware something something something. Then type in Mac-Boot and hit enter and see what happens, then post back. Hope this helps.
Nope, sorry. You're promising suggests did nothing except for the Open Firmware boot "froze" the error message (stopped the looping and outputed only one line, then crashed). Does anyone else know what to do?!?! Please help. Thanks a lot.
