Unable to install Mac OS X

Hi,

I'm experiencing some issue when I tried to reinstall my OS. It just keeps prompting me Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer. You have to use your Time Machine to restore..... etc. But its a brand new hard disk. I have also tried using another hard disk. Its just keep prompting the same error.

I also have deleted and recreate with 2 partitions, but problem still surface. Deleted and Erase at Utilities- Disk Utility, also can't help.

Anyone able to advise?

Appreciated.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Usual questions;

Have you partitioned and formatted the drive as GUID partition map, Mac OS Extended Journalled file system?

Are you using the original installer disc for that MBP?

If not, what disc are you using?

And a little more info on the MBP would be useful, like the model identifier or at least the approximate age (i.e. mid-2010, late 2009, early 2011 or whatever).
