In Aperture you add your Watermark to images when you are exporting them. In the export presets you can define which watermark to use:
Select one of the presets in the export panel, then select "edit". In the "Edit" panel check "Show Watermark" and select a watermark image file using the file chooser from a folder on your disk. If you want to create a watermark with transparent background you cannot do that in Aperture - you will have to use an editor that supports alpha channels to make the image transparent.

sorry im so new to this and its a bit overwhelming.. i have my transparent image file png that i put in with my photo images folder but now i dont know how to move it onto the photo itself... ok i think i should start from step #1 where do i save my png watermarks to... then #2 after photo edits are complete and i want to addi mages to my website where do i locate my pngs & add them to photo...? this is a HUGE help and i thank you!
You will not see the watermark on the image in Aperture - you add the watermark when you export the image to your disk or when you publish to a web gallery:
Do the following:
After enabeling and setting the watermark, press OK, then press "Export Versions"
Post back, if you need further help.

GREAT help !!! so i did all that now how do i get to see the WM on photo when i upload it to website?...
How do you upload to a website? Where do you publish your images?
i create a alblum in FB then hit add photos and choose the aperture program to find my photos but i did that & it didnt have the WM ?
Unless something has changed Aperture doesn't add watermarks to images uploaded using the built-in facebook uploader (or the MobileMe or flickr uploaders).
It will only add a watermark to emailed images and images exported.
You should look into the BorderFx plugin for this. It will add watermarks to images still in the Aperture library.

o.k., if you did what I suggested, then the images with the Watermarks are now in a folder on your disk.
Select this folder in the Finder and double click one of the images, to open it in Preview and look for the watermark if you like it.
You now have two options:
Maybe the export from Aperture to Facebook also has an option to add a watermark, but that I cannot try, because I do not have a facebook account.

No Aperture never did watermark these images only exported and emailed images.
As I wrote above BorderFx would be the way to go if you need watermarks on images in the library.
Thank you, Frank, for clarifying that - that saved me from having to create a Facebook account just to try that đ
only exported and emailed images
You can add watermarks to images in MobileMe galleries, Webpages, Smart webpages, Web Journals - that is why I was hopeful it might be possible when uploading to other Webhosts too... đ but consistency would be somewhat boring đ

P.S.
As I wrote above BorderFx would be the way to go if you need watermarks on images in the library.
Exactly! I didn't expect this to turn into a case with watermarked images ending up in the Aperture database, but somehow all watermark discussion end with a salute to BorderFx! đ
You can add watermarks to images in MobileMe galleries, Webpages, Smart webpages, Web Journals
Webpages, Smart webpages, Web Journals all go through the export preset settings so that's were the watermarks are being added to those. Never played with mobileme so don't know how those images get out of Aperture.
But as I wrote for flicker and facebook, because the image set to them aren't really exported (just placed in an Album) they don;t go through the export process and don;t get watermarked.
Thanks everyone for the help, but is there a way to change the size of the watermark? I have followed the above instructiosn but it's too big.
You cannot make the watermark smaller, when you add it on export, only scale it to a larger size. So create a watermark of the correct size for each of the presets you are using, or use the BorderFX plug-in that Frank Caggiano pointed to. That will give you more options.
