Q: My monitor is pixilated and pink!  What happened?

The display on My IMac G5 running 10.5.8 is pink and the images are ghostlike!  My screen saver is neon green! Is my Mac dying?  It has done this before and after I was doing my work for a few hours, it come back to normal and shocked my eyes!  This time it has been going on for about 4 days now!

Can someone help please? Thank you!

Try running in safe mode to see if the problem goes away.

hold down the shift key then poweron your machine.

    if this fixed the problem...

Running in Safe mode leaves out some video drivers.  Which results in machine not using advanced video hardware. You can run in normal mode but using the safe mode video drivers. For more details see:

Look through this thread. see the second page.  You don't have to read through the first page.  Just go to the part where I try a solution that works.

Hello. I am new at this, but had to post my answer somewhere okay. Yes my Mac screen was pink, shimmering but could still use it. Strange colours to say the least eh. I searched for answers for 3 full days. Tried everything suggested on Google, apart from taking it to an expert and pay $$$$$ to fix. Cut a long story short.....This is how I fixed the problem. Didn't cost a cent either. Turn off your laptop. Get a soft cloth, very slightly damp with warm water. Wipe and clean screen { Mine was filthy lol, ]. Then dry with another soft cloth. Turn on your Mac... IT WAS FIXED AND BACK TO NORMAL. No harm in trying I say. Hope this helps you too. Cheers from Girt xo
