I have the latest Itunes and a IPOD CLASSIC updated.

Some songs i can play in itunes (MP3 CDRip 320 KBS) won't play in the ipod.

I don't know how to fix this problem.

I restored the ipod from the itunes and sync again, but the problem persist.

The sogs are Skipped when i try to play.

Any help please?

Thanks in advance!

One way is to convert the song to iPod Compatible format.

    1. Select the song/s
    2. Click Advanced in the top Menu
    3. Click  Create iPod version.

It will create a copy of the song/s in the iPod Compatible format.

    Good luck!

I have the exact same problem as Marcelo, but the "Create iPod version" option is greyed out (as is the "Create for iPad or AppleTV") and therefore unavailable in the options menu. I checked for a number of other random files, AAC from the Store and MP3s, and for all of these the menu option is unavailable.

I tried converting to a lower bitrate using the iTunes "Convert to MP3" method, but that file won't play either (fine on iTunes, skips after a split second on iPod). I will burn a CD with the "suspect" MP3 file next and rip that in iTunes - I will report back whether that worked, although it seems a very stupid (and sort of wasteful) fix...

It worked, writing the CD from iTunes and ripping it with iTunes will fix the problem - a very ar5e over face way to resolve the problem, but since it was only with one file, I'm not too bothered...

Jens, thanks for sharing your success!

Hi Bilbo, my pleasure! When I have a bit more time I will try to dig a little deeper to understand what prevented the file from playing in the first place, I believe there are a few tools out there to analyse MP3 files for possible corruptions (whether they differentiate what works on iTunes but not on iPod is to be seen).

I find a fix for this problem: sync the music with mediamonkey.

ALL songs can be played in the ipod after sync with mediamonkey.

Is very strange this problem, maybe itunes generate this problem, because after aync with itunes many songs are skiped and won't play, but with mediamonkey sync the problem is solved.

Im sure theres many things you can do but the only thing i can think of is checking the box where you can convert the songs to 128kbs/192kbs/256kbs AAC

If you have .mp3 files, check to see if they end in .MP3. The ipod classic I have won't read that file extension with the upper case "MP". I changed the extension to .mp3, and they all work now.

    Hi all!

I had same problem. Then I scanned all my tracks with mp3val utility and realized that all my skipped mp3 tracks had problem like this:

    WARNING: "D:\Music\Musicals & Rock Operas\Funny Girl (1968)\01 - Overture.mp3" (offset 0x8d9c): MPEG stream error, resynchronized successfully

I fixed these tracks with mp3val, cleared all songs on iPod and resyncronized it (it's important! If you just repair files thay will not be updated on iPod by iTunes, so you have to re-upload them to your gadget). Now it works like a charm!

PS I mentioned this problem few months ago. One day after syncronization lots of my mp3's stopped playing on iPod classic 80GB (although they kept playing in WinAmp, iTunes and other desktop software as usual). I thought it was a start of the HDD end, and bought a new iPod classic 160GB. When I syncronized it to iTunes library, I was shocked getting the same problem!!! Then I started investigation and found solution described above. Hope it shall help.

Thank you very much!   The mp3val utility fixed the problem for me.  I had tried pretty much all the reset, reload, rebuild, reinstall, update stuff etc., with no luck.  I suspect that some of the people having the problem of some songs not playing could benifit from the mp3val fix.

    Thanks again, Zop.

You could just turn them into AAC Files that'll work
