This is one of the simplest requests, one that really shows how much more advanced Android really is. With any android device, no matter if you are in the middle of using an app, you can quickly glance at the top bar and see the date. With iOS, you now have to push the home button, pause whatever you were doing, flip the page to wherever your calendar is, check the date, double click the home button, choose the app that you were using, then finally continue your work. Is this really a power user feature? Can you not just display the date on the top bar? Out of sheer frustration with something so trivial, this is the last time I ever purchase an iPhone or iPad.
iOS wont let you put date on the status bar
Numerous users have wanted this. Send a request using Apple feedback. Maybe this will be added on a future iOS update.

Cheers, Tom 😉
No, but the simplest way to see the date is to put the calendar in your task bar or in a folder where its icon shows the date.
I have the same request as Apple of 74 and will forward on to Apple per Texas Mac Man's suggestion. Although the Calendar app does show the day, the functionality I am looking for is to have the date show up by the time at the very top so that it displays regardless of what app you have open at the time.
As a work around I start the calendar and then I can check it anytime on the multitasking bar.
