Air Play Remote Controller & iPad

Hello Alll...I am a newbie to the apple and ipad world and could really use some help with using my ipad and the remote controller that came with the air play device. I was told when I purchased air play that I could use the remote controller during presentations so that I could be free from manually navigating my ipad. Now that I have purchased air play, it appears that I only can use the remote controller with the device, specifically, when only connected to my tv. If you know this to be true, please confirm this for me. However, I would still love to be able to use a remote controller during during presentations via a projector. Does anyone know if a remote controller exists to allow me to do this?

I have a presentation coming up soon at my school and would really love to wow my students.

Thanks BT. I have successfully setup my apple tv, mirroring connectivity, etc. with the device, my ipad, and iphone. I am trying to setup my ipad with a projector and use another piece of equipment during presentations. I was hoping that the remote controller that comes with the apple tv would work on my ipad without using the apple tv device. It appears that I will not be able to do so. Do you know of anything that I could use as a remote control for my ipad? Thanks for your help :-)

Thanks again...after two intense days of looking, I don't think that there is anything available for wireless remote control of an ipad. Hopefully, something will be created in the future. If you find somethng, please let me know.

Searching through Google I came across:

This is the ONLY product that that I could find that would / may allow you TO remotely control the iPad, NOT use your iPad as a remote ( 99.9% of answers were about using iPad AS a remote).

There are other wireless "presentation" remotes, but from what I could see they would ONLY work with a computer ( NOT iPad ).
