Now I have a REAL blog... WordPress is Integrated

Okay I think you guys might like this... I just got done integrating my iWeb site with my Wordpress blog. This turned out to be easier than I thought and I'm really pleased with the results so far! Now I can post all kinds of stuff really fast, fully categorized, with time stamp, comments - all the blogging stuff you'd expect.

http://www.11mystics.com

Here's what I did. I found a theme that was close to the layout of my iWeb site. Then i tweaked the theme (I'm still tweaing it) so that it looked nearly identical. I edited the PHP code to include items from my iWeb site and then I use a bunch of redirects on the navigation links to keep the entire browsing experience seamless. You will see the URL change from .Mac to my personal domain whenever you switch between the iWeb pages and the actual blog.

I set the blog up to be my iWeb home page by inserting a redirect in Home.html and vice versa... when you go to 11mystics.com, it's redirecting right to the blog.

I still have some editing to do with the theme/stylesheets cuz when you click to read an entire entry, the layout is still messed up, but other than that, it's about done!

REally pleased with the results. Let me know what you think.

Suzanne, I'm not in your league when it comes to programming, but I admire your efforts. Some background please, what is Wordpress? An application? A blogging service?

Your redirects had me on a photo page of a house being remodled. When do you sleep?

Thanks for your efforts. I'll follow the majors by reading the sports page. - Fabe

Hey Fabe... yeah WordPress is one of the popular blog applications. It's not an app like iWeb though - WordPress runs on a web server. You configure it online and it runs on your personal domain (when your host supports it or you've personally installed it there).

Sleep tends to be all over the map - like right now I'm awake cuz my dogs steal my socks if I don't get up and feed them. But I'm going back to bed again LOL.

Hey

Nice work! But i would like to have some help... I've been bored with taking to much time in maintaining my websites, galeries etc. So i moved everything to iWeb, except for my blog (Wordpress) which is more "pro".
Anyway, i've managed to do the whole transfer and actually quite the same trick as you using redirection. But i just can't incorporate the nav menu on top of my blog. Coul you please help me?
You can see my website at http://www.arnoz.be and my blog at htt://blog.arnoz.be. Everything is finished except for the menu which is missing on top of the blog...

Thanks!

Arnoz,

I simply inserted a DIV into the header.php file for my WP theme where I wanted the nav bar. I'm using CSS to control some of its elements. Here's the HTML I used. The navbar class controls the margins, padding and background and font styles of the nav bar, the pipe class controls the padding on either side of the pipe character...

<div class="navbar">
<a href="http://www.11mystics.com/blog/">Home</a><span class="pipe">|</span>
<a href="http://web.mac.com/sboben/iWeb/11Mystics/About.html">About</a><span class="pipe">|</span>
<a href="http://web.mac.com/sboben/iWeb/11Mystics/iWeb_Templates.html">iWeb Templates</a><span class="pipe">|</span>
