My internet card doesn't work what should I do?

I need to figure out what would be the best thing to get the internet back for my G4 I dont want to have to run a ethernet cable I would prefer a wireless card.

If it's a Power Mac G4, it has PCI slots. You should be able get a PCI wireless adapter. It goes into a PCI slot, and an antenna connects on the outside. There are many options, but you need to get one that supports Mac OS X. And your Power Mac's OS should probably be Tiger (10.4.11) or later.


I don't have experience with it, but here's one that say "Mac" in the description and goes up to 802.11n speed.

Even the last Power Mac G4 only had USB 1.1 ports (not USB 2.0), so I wouldn't get a USB wireless adapter. It may work, but its speed will be limited by the slow USB 1.1 ports.

If you have any G4 other than a FW 800 MDD (Mirror Drive Door) then you can use the Apple Airport card:

If you have the FW800 MDD, you can use the Apple Airport Extreme wireless card:

Airport cards utilize OS X native drivers, and the G4 case has builtin antenna for the cards.


3rd party PCI cards cannot always say that, though PCI can be an alternative:
