Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Anybody try Adobe Muse yet?

Yes,I know they charge monthly fee etc....but it will offer suport and it looks similar to I web.

I figure with Adobe In Design+Muse together,it will give all the results one needs for web site and web magazine.

Wordpress,Flux,Rapid weaver dont have support and......DREAMWEAVER is complicated, they say it takes weeks to grasp.

What do people think MUSE will be like???

It seems simple and could look very sophisticated with IN DESIGN.

Of course WordPress, Flux and RapidWeaver offer support - what rubbish to state something like that. I initially switched to Flux 3 and have upgraded to Flux 4 which has just been released and of course there is support with a pdf guide to getting started and support forums.

I looked at Adobe Muse was not initially impressed and will not get it as if you don't have the Beta version, then you'll end up paying through the nose for it with a monthly or annual subscription. That is not the way that I want to go with web design.

I fully agree with Ethmoid. I don't know where you got the idea that those developers don't offer support. I also switched to Flux and find it to be a good website design application. There are a couple of user forms, numerous videocasts and the pdf guide that Ethmoid mentioned.

I'm sure Dreamweaver is complicated as it is a very complex website builder. But none of the iWeb alternates as easy and intuitive to use as iWeb is.

I started to try Muse but balked when Adobe wanted to install all sorts of update files or whatever they called them. Way to intrusive for my tastes.

Looking at the topics you started, I can imagine you need support.

There isn't a single question you can answer yourself. Even downloading and starting to use Muse Beta requires advice.

Why not educate yourself? You then might be able to use iWeb, which is exactly the application designed for you.

And it saves on telephone bills.

Why not see for yourself and do a search and download the trial versions of all that are possible alternatives to iWeb.

The alternatives mentioned here would be RapidWeaver - download a free trial of that, although you can't start with a blank page and the add ons can make it expensive - you can purchase it from the Mac App Store.

You can download a free trial of Sandvox too and that is available in the Mac App Store. Freeway Pro and Expresss have free trials and Freeway Express is available in the Mac App Store. The same goes for Flux 4 which you can download as a free trial of 30 days. The Mac App Store don't have it as it has only just been released, but there may be some special offers on Flux, reducing the cost as there were with Flux 3.

The alternatives to try then are: RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Expresss and Flux 4. You need to work out for yourself whether they are the same or more complex than iWeb.

I have investigated all other alternatives to I web and....even if you download them,it would take many days to get proficient at them.None have books in stores or telephone numbers to call.

Living next to Apple store in NYC 5th ave,I learned I web from the best advisors there and have a fantastic grasp of this software because of it.....along with a lot about Apple products in general.

Trying many trial alternatives is time consuming +not appealing to me,the perfect one for me would be a more sophisticated version of I web and it sounds like Muse could be that.

I will download it,but I am sure it will take days to master well and wanted feedback before i plunged into it.

Most of the free trials of these products last 30 days so you don't need to use them all in one go - that is the whole point of the trial that you just dip in and out for a month to see whether you like the product or not.

I never bothered with RapidWeaver, as I knew it would not be right for me, but I did download a trial of Sandvox and knew within a couple of days that that would not be right either, so deleted it and moved on. Downloaded the trials of both Freeway Pro and Express and considered these until I found Flux 3 initially and liked this so purcahsed it when they had a special offer on.

I really don't understand why you would want to waste money on a product that you will not be able to purcahse outright? Adobe Muse will be offered as a subscription on either a monthly or annual basis and once you have signed up to that and paid the fees for using it, you could have purcahsed it ouright at least 3 times over - do you have money to burn? Think there might come a time when the beta version won't work any longer and you'll have to take out a subscription.

Personally, I'd rather pay for a product outright and one more thing - why bother to ask for people's views and opinions if you are not going to listen to any of them?!!

There is a great tutorial of Muse at Lynda.com, though it costs $25/month to join. I join Lynda.com for a month or two a year, just to get an idea of what is out there, and I saw that Muse really is doable for me. There is something intuitive about Muse, that makes it attractive to me.

But, when it gets out of beta there may be a lot of catches...and I am really locked into the Apple platform.

I think for those Adobe fans out there, who love Photoshop, Premiere Pro etc, then Muse will be a great addition and they won't mind the monthly charge of $50. I did check with Adobe and was told that the $600 yearly fee got you the right to put up only one site, and the details of the entire suite were still being worked out.

Me, I can't afford the cost.

But personally, looking at muse as a standalone application, it looks like fun.

I have seen several reports from developers who have the next version of OSX, who say it works fine with iWeb (hope that last isn't a violation of Apple's regs). So it could be that people could be able to use iWeb for years to come, like many people are using iMovie HD 06, and loving it. Not sure how iWeb sites are making the transition to the mobile ipad/iphone world though.
